Baker Street
Finish Prime Grade Oak Parquet
Location London
For this project, a private 250 square metre flat, we laid a Prime grade 10mm bespoke Oak pattern, with a twisted rope border. Each piece of the main body of the floor was laid individually, using the glue and pin method. The border was fixed in the same fashion but came preassembled in 1-metre sections.
Finally, we backfilled up to the walls, whereby we left our 10mm expansion gap. The floor was sanded progressively from a 60-grit up to a 120-grit finish. It was filled at the 100-grit stage before it had its final sand at 120-grit using a 4-headed sander which gives a perfectly smooth finish. This client wanted an oiled finish, so we applied 2 heavy coats of Osmo Poly X Satin Hard Wax Oil. A laborious installation, but the end result is breathtaking.
In total we laid 900 square metres of 180mm x 20mm Prime Grade Oak planks. This was a multi-layered product with a 6mm wear layer, which is ideal to be used in conjunction with any underfloor heating system. The finish requested was a white Oiled finish. This was laid in 6 flats, along with 6 staircases.
